Introduction to route

A SCITT route enables graduates to undertake their training within a school environment, leading to Qualified Teacher Status. Most SCITT programmes award a Postgraduate Certificate in Education and offer salaried as well as non-salaried routes.

A SCITT will work in partnership with other local schools and this allows excellent practice and the most recent innovations to be shared with trainees. The SCITT programmes are designed and delivered by outstanding practitioners with current, relevant classroom experience.

School based training allows trainees to develop the necessary competencies to meet the challenges of teaching effectively in a school.

For graduates with the ambition to become reflective, well-informed teachers, able to achieve outstanding in their teaching practice, the SCITT offers the ideal environment for initial teacher training.
